"L'Etang des Soeurs" - Courtauld Gallery
Project commissioned by the Courtauld Gallery to write a piece inspired by a chosen painting in their collection. Written for trio ensemble of Flute, Viola and Harp. Titled "L'Etang des Soeurs", translating to ‘The Sister’s Pond’, the piece portrays the sister dancing along the path, experiencing the landscape around her. Appreciating bird song, feeling a soft breeze brush across her body, hearing the rustling of the leaves in the trees, and noticing the water gently rippling in the pond. Feeling the contrast of the warm sunlight through gaps in the canopy, with the colder darker shaded areas of denser woodland. This is a space of peace and tranquillity, with a sense of nature's enclosure around."
